Ok friends did you know that they make dark chocolate Reese’s cups?! How long have i been missing out on these little goodies? I love dark chocolate and the chocolate/peanut butter combo is one of my all time favorites so when i was browsing the candy aisle at Target and found these little gems i snatched them right up to make one of my family’s favorite holiday cookies. Ok so nothing really screams ‘holiday’ about them but my grandma always makes them at Christmas time so for me they are always a must on my holiday baking list. I made these cookies with the dark and regular Reese’s cups because someone in my house doesn’t like dark chocolate, what a shame! What is your favorite holiday baking item? Since i haven’t used this peanut butter cookie recipe enough (reindeer & spiders) i thought it’d use it again ;).
Peanut Butter Cookies
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 bag Reese’s peanut butter cups (unwrapped)
Preheat the oven to 350. Stir together dry ingredients. In a mixer cream butter, shortening, and peanut butter until smooth. Add the sugars and keep mixing until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, and then vanilla. Add dry ingredients in two parts and mix until combined.
Shape dough into balls and place in a mini muffin pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes. When you take them out of the oven pace the Reese’s cups immediately. Let them cool and you’re done 🙂
