Last week i was so happy to be featured in Ink, its a weekly lifestyle newspaper here in Kansas City. They did an article called “at home with” and they came and photographed our home in December. It was super fun to have them come, a little stressful getting ready for it, but in the end its so fun to see the article! You can read it online HERE. Here are all the photos they took, enjoy!
So we live in a townhouse that was a pretty cookie-cutter space when we moved in, and we have done a lot to it. In the kitchen we painted the cabinets white, replaced the countertops with butcher block ones, added bead board to the sides of the cabinets, tiled the backsplash with subway tile, and added the pot rack which we found at an antique store.
Below we swapped out the builder’s standard light fixture with an iron one and have a photo of the Sandiego temple where we were married and a print from hammerpress.
Last year we collected some vintage 1800’s maps we found on ebay of places that we have lived and framed them in our entry way. we have a map of TN, where i am from, Salt Lake City, where Matt is from, Coronado Island where we had our wedding reception and one of the west bottoms here in Kansas City. I also hang a chalkboard that i change with the seasons & the Christmas print i designed that you can download HERE. The entry way gallery wall is one of my favorite spots in the house.
Here are some Christmas decorations mixed in with some pieces of my milk glass collection.
Moving upstairs this is June’s room. It was originally Max’s room that you can see here. I painted it aqua because 1. i’m obsessed with aqua and 2. its easily adaptable. For Max i used yellow accents and when we knew we were having a girl i switched out the yellow for pink.
Our master is decorated in yellow & gray. I based everything off the bed, which is from ikea.
Max’s big boy room is simple but i am in love with the shelves we just built for the books. The wall was so bare and i kept debating about what to do with it, my friend Tara has these in her boys’ room which gave me the inspiration.
We finished our basement before Max was born and its such a great space for the kids to play.
