Review of the new Cricut Explore Air 2
Guys! Before we get into all the details about this awesome new Cricut machine can we just talk about the color?! That mint green is what my dreams are made of! I was so excited to pull this out of the box to see the gorgeous new Cricut Explore Air 2 in person and see the color, it’s awesome!

Cricut Explore Air 2 Mint Green
Before this machine arrived I have had the Cricut Explore One since 2014 and I love using these awesome machines to get the best results in my craft projects! The video below is a quick explanation of all the features of the new machine.

A few key points about the Cricut Explore Air 2 Features:

  • It’s bluetooth enabled (hence why it’s called “Air”) and you can cut, score & draw wirelessly from your computer and phone or tablet!
  • The “fast mode” lets you cut vinyl, cardstock & iron-on super fast! 2 x’s faster than regular mode. awesome.
  • There is a double tool holder for a pen & a blade so you can cut and write in the same command.
Is the Cricut Explore Air 2 worth it?
I can’t say enough how much I love this machine. You may remember I basically customized my brother’s entire wedding thanks to my Cricut. I love cutting vinyl and using it for all types of projects. It’s so nice when you want a million circles but don’t want to sit with a punch, or if you want to design and create a custom gift! If you are choosing between the Explore One and Explore Air 2 it just depends on your preference for the latest features. The new Air 2’s capability to cut fast is really nice especially if you cut a lot or are thinking about starting a business using your Cricut.

It’s gifting season and I have to tell you if you have a crafty person in your life who doesn’t own a Cricut Explore this is the perfect gift. Seriously, any sister, mother, daughter, wife or friend who loves to make things will absolutely adore the new Cricut Explore Air 2.
Capabilities of the new Cricut Explore Air 2
I love to make gifts using my machine. To cut things with your Cricut Explore it’s as easy as opening the software and choosing an image from the design space.  I love the custom collections by some of my favorite designers and other bloggers! The below “you are amazing” image is in the design space inside the tatertos and jello collection, isn’t it cute?!
making gifts with the Cricut Explore Air 2
This is one of those fun simple projects you can complete in under an hour. It’s just a flour sack kitchen towel from Target that is painted with fabric paint using a stencil.  I love the Cricut Stencil Vinyl, I selected the image in the design space and then cut it out on the stencil vinyl.
Easy handmade gift idea
To paint the towel you just place the adhesive stencil vinyl onto the towel using transfer tape and then paint! You can see the full tutorial in my painted Christmas towel post, it’s the exact same process.
Make your own gifts with Cricut Explore Air 2
If you make a stenciled towel please let me know! I love to see when you make things from the blog, it seriously makes my heart happy! 🙂 Share it with me in the comments or tag me on Instagram (@handmadeintheheartland) or facebook!
