This easy sewn insulated lunch sack is a quick and fun project for you or your kids! Choose your own fun fabric and you’ll be ditching the brown bag in no time! This post contains affiliate links.
You guys. I kind of wish I went to work outside my house just so I could pack my lunch in this cute little lunch sack! I found this fabric on clearance when Hancock fabrics was going out of business a few years ago (yes that is how long I hold on to fabric before I make something with it ). If you’re a sewer you know the options are endless for this cute little free pattern. Superman fabric- your son will love it! Amy Butler prints- your teenage daughter will think it’s the cutest thing ever!
I used 2 interfacings that make this lunch sack insulated, solarize and shield from Fairfield world. I also lined it in a vinyl fabric that is easy to wipe out. I also used stiffen interfacing for the handle.
The pattern has step by step instructions as well as step by step photos so you can easily make this cute little lunch sack!
The entire thing is finished with binding made from the fabric of your choosing and honestly this project can come together in a few hours at most. What type of fabric will you choose?! We all know picking out fabric is the best part of a sewing project!
If you make this please let me know! It thrills me to hear from you and see what you’ve made! Leave a comment or tag me on Instagram (@handmadeintheheartland) or facebook!

I just subscribed and confirmed my subscription but can't seem to get access. I keep getting the access denied message when I click on the link. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Kathy, I'm so sorry! Google did a security update and all my links have stopped working and I'm slowly fixing them all! Thanks for your patience.
